The Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Strelitz mbH (VMS) was a municipal transport company based in Neustrelitz , which operated most of the bus connections in the former Mecklenburg-Strelitz district .
In 2013 it merged with Demminer Verkehrsgesellschaft (DVG) in the new Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Transport Company (MVVG).
history
In 1992 the Verkehrsgesellschaft Landkreis Neustrelitz mbH (VLN) was founded. As a result of the union of the districts of Neubrandenburg and Neustrelitz , this merged with Neubrandenburger Landverkehr GmbH to form the new Mecklenburg-Strelitz transport company .
In 2004/05, a quality management system based on the ISO 2000 standard was introduced at VMS. Proof of this was provided as part of a certification audit in August 2005 and was repeated annually.
Since March 2011, VMS has been offering people with disabilities the opportunity to call special buses, i.e. buses, as part of the timetable, using a special number for the respective traffic area. H. Low-floor buses or buses with a lift can be ordered by telephone. The order had to be received by at least 10 a.m. on the previous weekday. This enabled the people affected to enjoy better mobility with the same vehicle fleet.
In the course of 2013, VMS was merged with Demminer Verkehrsgesellschaft (DVG) to form the new Mecklenburg-Vorpommerschen Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVVG). The new company is based in Demmin. This was u. a. necessary because the VMS line permits expire in 2015. Due to an EU regulation on the direct allocation of transport services, the subcontractor quota must then be below 50 percent, which was not the case with VMS.
vehicles
The Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Strelitz mbH only had its own fleet of 32 buses in the north of the district, which were used from the depots in Friedland and Neubrandenburg . All of our own buses were equipped with camera surveillance systems and illuminated displays. Most of the vehicles were regional buses . 35% of our own buses were equipped with a lift or a ramp for barrier-free access; every newly purchased bus had to meet these criteria. In the southern part of the traffic area (around Neustrelitz), the transport services were mainly provided by subcontractors who used more than 70 additional buses.
Former lines
The traffic area was characterized by very sparsely populated areas and larger cities, which were linked to one another via the VMS network. The two depots of the VMS (now MVVG) were divided between the places Neubrandenburg and Friedland .
Most bus routes only ran during the week due to the sparsely populated area in the region, and often only on individual weekdays as a regular taxi during the school holidays. On some lines, an on-call bus was used as a supplement during off-peak times;

Osprey line
Under the name of the Osprey Line, there is a seasonal on-call bus line (line 682) between Neustrelitz, Kratzeburg, Boek and Mirow, which opens up the south-eastern part of the Müritz National Park . Since the 2011 season, the line has been operated twice a day in the summer season (May – September), but as an on-call bus. A minibus with a bicycle trailer is used so that bicycles can also be transported.
