Zislow village church
The village church Zislow is a listed church building in Zislow in the Mecklenburg Lake District ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). It belongs to the parish Grüssow-Satow in the Propstei Neustrelitz, Mecklenburg parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .
History and architecture
Until 1886 the chapel was a subsidiary of Grüssow , after which it came to Satow .
Some historians suspect that a Germanic cult site may have existed here. There is a record of a church that was destroyed in the Thirty Years War . Then the small, octagonal half-timbered building was built in 1749. The roof is covered with red tiles. The walls are divided by almost square windows with bars. The towerless, octagonal half-timbered building was completely renovated by 1992. The bell tower is free-standing, the steel bell was cast in Bochum in 1874. In summer the building is used for exhibitions and concerts.
graveyard
The chapel stands in the middle of a cemetery, which is bordered by a stone wall. The grave of the politician Martin Schiele is in the cemetery .
Furnishing
The interior of the chapel is kept simple.
- The altar cabinets and the stalls date from 1694.
- The pulpit was built after 1650.
- The crucifix is from the 18th century.
- The pair of candlesticks dates from around 1850.
- The Vasa Sacra consisted of a chalice, paten , wafer box and a jug, all items were made of gold-plated silver.
