Golchen Church

The Golchen Church is a church building in the municipality of Golchen in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It has been part of the Demmin Propstei in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Demmin parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .

building

The foundation walls of the hall church were built from brick in the 15th or 16th century . The transverse rectangular choir with a surrounding console frieze is younger. In the second half of the 19th century, the building was heavily redesigned and the choir was given its three-sided end. At the same time the square west tower was built and the bridal gate laid out. The sacristy was probably only renewed. The tower has side extensions and a wooden top with an open lantern. Stepped buttresses support the choir and nave. The windows have two lanes with a large apex oculus .

Furnishing

Saying above the entrance portal

The village of Golchen and its church were badly damaged in a great fire in 1764. The reconstruction in 1767 resulted in structural changes compared to the late Gothic core.

The nave , the choir and the sacristy are flat-roofed. The tower hall, which was renovated in 1965, has a groin vault on which remains of the 19th century painting have been preserved.

The pulpit, stalls and baptism are made of wood in the neo-Gothic style. From the stained glass institution Ferdinand Müller glass paintings date from 1895, which originally were doing well in all arched windows. Of these, two medallions with the original edging have been preserved, five more were deposited in 1965.

The organ was probably built by August Wilhelm Grüneberg around 1830. His great-grandson Barnim Grüneberg jun. replaced some lost pipes after 1945. In 2010 it was partially restored by Johann-Gottfried Schmidt .

In September 1917, the original church tower bells had to be delivered to Demmin for war purposes. The Golchen church received a new bell on December 14, 1927. The chime, which was made in 1620, was consecrated on January 15, 1928.
