Village church in Deven

The core of the village church in Deven, a district of Groß Plasten in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , dates back to the 14th century.

Building history and equipment

Near the church is a rectangular stone building with Blend gables of brick . The attached crypt on the north side dates from the 17th century.

The church is equipped with a pulpit altar with barriers and an attached patron's box as well as a pastor's chair from the 18th century. From an earlier altar, seven carved figures (Madonna and saint) from the 15th century have been preserved in the church. The crucifix and a carved Pietà date from the 16th century.

The church does not have a bell tower, instead there is a free-standing belfry with a small bell by the church .

Today Deven is part of the connected parish of Schloen-Varchentin, together with the churches in Groß Dratow , Groß Plasten , Klein Plasten , Schloen and Varchentin . It is part of the Müritz church region in the Neustrelitz provost, Mecklenburg church district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .
