Jesper Brugge (born August 2, 1975 ) is a former Swedish freestyle skier and alpine ski racer . He was particularly successful in ski cross and won the corresponding World Cup discipline in the 2003/04 season.

biography

At the beginning of his sports career, Brugge took part in FIS races and in the European Cup, where he increasingly specialized in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom . On January 15, 1995 he made his debut in the World Cup , although he could not qualify for the second round in the slalom in Kitzbühel . In December 1995 he won two European Cup slaloms in Obereggen and Madonna di Campiglio . He got his first World Cup points on December 19, 1995 with 19th place in the slalom of Madonna di Campiglio. As a result, Brugge could not improve any further. Only once again did he achieve a top 30 result in a World Cup race, on January 18, 1998 in the slalom of Veysonnaz (24th place).

Brugge contested his last alpine ski race in April 2001, after which he switched to ski cross. On November 30, 2002, he took part in the first ski cross World Cup race in history in Tignes and finished in 9th place. The best result in the first season was 4th. In the winter of 2003/04 Brugge first achieved four podium places before winning his only World Cup race on March 12, 2004 in Sauze d'Oulx . Due to the consistency over the course of the season, he won the ski cross discipline ranking.

After a cautious start to the season, Brugge was able to achieve another podium at the end of the 2004/05 season. At the final World Cup in 2005 in Ruka , he won the silver medal behind the Czech Tomáš Kraus . In the 2005/06 season he placed four times in the top ten, but it was not enough for a podium. Then he resigned from top-class sport.
