location

Görike is located in the southern part of the municipality of Gumtow. The Angerdorf borders on Bendelin in the south and Netzow in the west , both districts of the municipality of Plattenburg . Schönhagen follow in the north, Granzow in the east and Barenthin in the south-east (districts of the community of Gumtow). In 1900 the area covered 988 ha.

history

The place is first mentioned in 1344 as Gorcke . The name is derived from Old Polish Gorka or Gorky = 'settlement on the small mountain', whereby Gorky is the diminutive of Gora = 'mountain'. In 1551/54 the village had 34 hooves , which were cultivated by 13 hofners. In 1576 a "mill in the field" (= windmill) and a blacksmith were mentioned for the first time. In 1686 there was already a jug on site. In 1800 the village had 42 fire places, in 1860 the place had four public buildings, 58 residential houses and 83 farm buildings; this included a flour mill and two brick factories. In 1945, 194.8 hectares were expropriated and divided. In 1960 the local LPG had 121 members who farmed a total of 825 hectares of land. In 1945 the community still had 481 inhabitants.

Görike is located on the Berlin – Wilsnack pilgrimage route , which has been committed since the end of the 14th century.

Attractions

Görike owns a hall-shaped stone church , which still has the original three pointed arched windows on its east side. Its core probably comes from the 1st half of the 14th century. The west tower was only expanded in the 15th century. The interior of the flat-roofed church has an elaborate late Gothic winged altar from the middle of the 15th century.
