Culture and sights

Wutike village church

The late Gothic village church of Wutike dates from the 15th century, was originally built from field stones and supplemented with a half-timbered extension around 1630.

One of the largest boulders in Brandenburg is located near the Jäglitz . Its circumference is around 15 meters. It protrudes around two meters from the ground. In the 19th century it was to serve as building material for a granite bowl that was to be set up in front of the Altes Museum in the Lustgarten in Berlin-Mitte . As the access was too difficult, the builders decided to dismantle the margrave stones in the Rauenen mountains south of Fürstenwalde / Spree near the town of Rauen instead . According to legend, the stone came to the region through a quarrel between two giants. One of the giants wanted to throw the stone from Demerthin at his opponent in Blumenthal. However, since he overestimated himself, the stone ended up in Wutike.
