Breitenfeld is an inhabited part of the community in the Schönebeck district of the non-governmental community Gumtow in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

geography

The northernmost place in the municipality of Gumtow is 3 kilometers east-northeast of Schönebeck, 10 kilometers north-northeast of Gumtow and 28 kilometers east of Perleberg. The small village is surrounded in its central place by a small half-timbered church, a reed village pond and houses with little height. There is a cemetery on the southwestern edge of the village and the Breitenfeld stud farm 200 meters northeast of the settlement.

The village borders on agricultural areas in the immediate vicinity and is only almost completely surrounded by forest beyond this open agricultural landscape. The area of ​​Breitenfeld encompasses almost half of the Schönebeck district and forms its eastern part. It reaches heights of around 100 meters and the northern edge is largely formed by the Butterbach. There are no other waters worth mentioning.

The neighboring towns are Langnow in the north, Heidelberg , Buchhorst and Blumenthal in the northeast, Dahlhausen in the east, Waldhof and Brüsenhagen in the southeast, Kolrep and Kolrep Aufbau in the south, Dannenwalde and Schönebeck in the southwest and Boddin in the northwest.

history

Around 1800 the place belonged to the Pritzwalkischen district in the province of Prignitz ; part of the Kurmark of the Mark Brandenburg . In a description of the Mark Brandenburg from 1804 the 41 Hufen village with a total of 87 inhabitants was given and the monastery Stift zum Heiligengrabe was named as the owner . At that time there was a Lehnschulze, three whole farmers and two residents. In addition, there were 17 fireplaces, the village church was a daughter church of Kolrep in the Pritzwalk inspection and the address was Kyritz.

In 1946 the village had 155 inhabitants. It was a municipality in the Ostprignitz district until July 24, 1952 and then came to the Pritzwalk district . On March 1, 1970 it was incorporated into Schönebeck and became a district. Since June 30th, 2002 the place is, through the amalgamation of Schönebeck and 15 other municipalities, an inhabited part of the municipality in the district of Schönebeck of the municipality of Gumtow.

Village church from the southeast

The small half-timbered church on the village green dates back to 1648. It has a free-standing bell tower typical of the Prignitz family and a colorful baroque pulpit altar.
