Groß Welle is a district of the municipality of Gumtow in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

geography

The place is 12 kilometers west of Gumtow and 17 kilometers southeast of Perleberg . It is surrounded by an open agricultural landscape and only in the extreme north-west and on the eastern edge of the district are small areas of forest. The highest elevations are the Wellschen Mountains ( 79.1  m above sea  level ) and the Wolfshagenberg ( 70.2  m above sea  level ) in the east of the district . From these heights, which are on the connecting path from Lindenberg to Schrepkow , the terrain drops noticeably to the east and west.

The federal highway 107 , which runs here in north-south direction, divides the street village into two halves. The eastern part of the district extends with its southeastern end to the north side of the federal highway 5 . Here is a single farmstead belonging to the village, only 700 meters from the western outskirts of Kunow . The Penningsgraben , a right tributary of the Karthane , begins just a few meters east of this homestead, on the eastern edge of the district of Groß Welle .

The Welle-Kurier residential area, one kilometer south-east, belongs to the westernmost part of the municipality of Gumtow . The neighboring towns are Hoppenrade , Garz and Lindenberg in the north, Krams , Beckenthin and Kunow in the east, Schrepkow, Neu Schrepkow and Kletzke in the south, and Viesecke and Klein Welle in the west.

history

In 1804, 218 people lived in the village, it had 46 fireplaces and a total of 38 hooves. A Lehnschulze, 17 full and two half farmers and 19 residents were active in the village. It was owned by the von Haldern family and was in the Pritzwalkischer Kreis in the Prignitz of the Mark Brandenburg . The local church was at that time a mother church of the Wilsnack inspection and the place could be reached by post via Kletzke.

1818, the place came to the district Ostprignitz in the administrative district of Potsdam in the province of Brandenburg . On a map from 1926 there is a Dutch windmill 300 meters south of today's southern edge of the village's development. Also on this map and within the district, two settlements are recorded 1,600 meters northwest and 1,500 meters west of the village church, which are there as dismantling to Gr. Wave are entered. The latter had a post mill.

On June 30, 2002, Groß Welle merged with 15 other communities to form the community of Gumtow. At that time 110 people lived here.
