history

Village church in Lindenberg

Lindenberg was first mentioned in a document in 1384, initially under the name Lintberghe . The names Lindtbeck , Lindberk and Lindtberge also existed in the course of the 16th century . The current name Lindenberg appeared for the first time in 1652 and is still valid today. Between the years 1448 and 1514 after the devastation caused by a plague , the survivors fled to the Tuchen Mountains and initially built a new village there. From around 1540 the Lindenbergers moved back to the old place. The church was probably built in the 14th century, but the tower wasn't built until the next century.
