Klein Gottschow is a district of the community of Groß Pankow (Prignitz) in the Prignitz district , Brandenburg . The parish parts of Simonshagen and Guhlsdorf belong to Klein Gottschow. A total of around 170 people live in the district.

geography

The Groß Pankow district of Klein Gottschow is located in the historic Prignitz landscape east of the town of Perleberg . In terms of natural surroundings, Klein Gottschow is located in the North Brandenburg plateau and hill country .

It is characteristic of the district that it is divided into two parts by a wooded terminal moraine that runs in a west-east direction . To the north is the village of Klein Gottschow, to the south of Simonshagen and the Rundling Guhlsdorf. Named peaks of the range of hills from west to east include Weidberg (82.2 m), Semmelberg (82.9 m), Butterberg (85.0 m), Eierberg (90.6 m) and Heidberg (85.9 m) until the Kronsberge join in the east, where the highest point of the district is reached at around 99 meters above sea level.

The lowest point of the district is in the north on the Retziner Mühlbach at about 39 meters above sea level. The southern border to the neighboring community of Plattenburg is marked by the Jeetzbach . Both waters run to the west.

The Brandenburg state road L 103 runs through the municipality of Guhlsdorf. From there, the district road K7016 branches off to Simonshagen and Klein Gottschow. The Wittenberge – Strasburg railway line also runs through the district, but the Rohlsdorf-Gottschow station on the other side of the border to the neighboring district of Retzin to the north is no longer in operation.

history

The first documentary mentions of the villages for Klein Gottschow date back to 1345, Guhlsdorf 1367 and Simonshagen 1424. The place names indicate that Klein Gottschow was a Slavic foundation, the other parts of the community were German settlements.

On January 1, 1974 Guhlsdorf was incorporated into Klein Gottschow. On December 31, 2002, the community Groß Pankow (Prignitz) was created through the merger of several previously independent communities, including Klein Gottschow.

Culture and sights

The Klein Gottschower Feldsteinkirche dates from the first half of the 14th century. It has an extraordinary tower top that can be reached from the outside via an outside staircase. Inside the church houses a pulpit altar from 1727 and a Lütkemüller organ from 1863. The church was renovated in 1992/93.

The Guhlsdorf half-timbered church was built in the 17th century. Your pulpit altar is from 1712. The church tower was restored in 2002.

The list of architectural monuments in Groß Pankow (Prignitz) also includes the stable and storage buildings of the Simonhagen Vorwerk.
