history

Village church from 1798

Roddahn is a street village , was first mentioned in a document in 1240 and was owned by the von Kröcher family from the Altmark for many centuries . The church of the town with 270 inhabitants is a simple half-timbered building in the shape of a hall, probably from 1798 (year on gallery and bell). In order to save costs, the tower was abandoned without further ado and the small bell was placed in the attic. After the church fell into disrepair in 1990, the roof, facade, windows and doors could be renovated from 2001 to 2003.

Until 1953, the Schwarzwasser municipality was the smallest municipality in Germany with its own mayor.

After 1990 a number of associations were founded in Roddahn, which have shaped the cultural and social life of the place ever since. In the mid-1990s, the LebensART e. V. is the largest employer in the area with its pet park in Babe.

On December 31, 2001, Roddahn and its parts of the community were incorporated into Neustadt (Dosse).

schools

In 1997, Tausendweg e. V. founded the neighborhood school - Freie Schule Roddahn, whose primary school, together with the affiliated kindergarten and the state-approved secondary school, is attended by around 95 children.
