Köritz is a residential area in the town of Neustadt (Dosse) in the southwest of the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg .

location

Köritz is located directly southeast of the core city area of Neustadt (Dosse). Other neighboring towns are Segeletz in the east, Schönfeld , New America and Hohenofen in the south, Strubbergshof and Hauptgestüt in the west and Spiegelberg in the northwest.

The federal road 102 leads through Köritz to Rathenow and the state road 141 to Dreetz . The Berlin – Hamburg railway line is north of the town .

history

Köritz was first mentioned in a document as kuritz in 1305 . The place name is derived from a Slavic word for tree bark and describes a place where bast was processed. The origin of the settlement is a Kreuzanger village . In the past, large parts of Köritz belonged to the Neustadt lordship, which the village was able to acquire in full in 1699. The place was a leasehold in the Electoral Brandenburg Office Neustadt an der Dosse . From 1524 on, Köritz was in the Ruppin District . After the Thirty Years' War , Köritz was almost completely desolate , only the estate of the local noble family Kröcher was still standing. After 1687 the place was rebuilt, around 1800 the place had over 600 inhabitants again.

From 1815 on, Köritz belonged to the Prussian province of Brandenburg . After the Prussian administrative reform in April 1817, the Ruppin District continued to be run as the Ruppin District . In 1846 Köritz got a railway connection, which led to a strong population growth. In 1872 the Neustadt an der Dosse office was dissolved. On September 30, 1928, the rural community of Köritz and the manor district of the same name were combined to form the new community of Köritz.

In 1872, according to the new district order, the division into official areas took place, and Kampehl was added to the official area of Köritz. The previous administration of Köritz was based in a house opposite the Köritz Church (Eck-Schulze).

On April 1, 1938, the southern neighboring village of Schönfeld was incorporated . During the land reform after the end of the Second World War , 221 hectares of arable land were distributed among 89 new farmers. In GDR times, after a regional reform in July 1952, the place belonged to the Kyritz district in the Potsdam district . On August 1, 1954, Köritz was incorporated into Neustadt (Dosse) with the districts of Gadenshof, Ihlenhaus, Schönfeld and Vogelsang. Gadenshof is now a desert. In the same year, an agricultural production cooperative of type I was founded in the village . After reunification , Köritz belonged to the Kyritz district of Brandenburg, which was dissolved in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in December 1993 .

Köritz village church

The village church of Köritz was built as a plastered building between 1741 and 1743. The square west tower with a curved dome was added in 1802. The transept was extended with new windows as part of the interior work on the building in 1901. The nave was divided into a winter church around 1970 . In 1996/97 the church was restored.

Originally there was an organ in the church, built in 1824 by Tobias Turley from Treuenbrietzen , which was replaced in 1902 by a new one by Albert Hollenbach . The organ was restored in 2003 and is the largest Hollenberg organ still in existence. In the winter church there is an organ by Friedrich Hermann Lütkemüller from 1869, which was previously in the demolished village church in Ganzer .
