history

The dead end village was first mentioned in a document in 1307 with the spelling Reuelde . The place name describes a settlement near a field inhabited by deer. The place name was also spelled Rehfeldt until the 19th century . Until 1952 the village belonged to the Ostprignitz district in the Prussian administrative district of Potsdam . During the GDR district reform in July 1952, the place was assigned to the Kyritz district in the Potsdam district. On October 1, 1973, the municipality of Rehfeld was then merged with the neighboring village of Berlitt to form a new municipality called Rehfeld-Berlitt .

After German reunification , the municipality of Rehfeld-Berlitt belonged to the Kyritz district in the state of Brandenburg until the district reform in 1993 . Rehfeld has belonged to the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district since December 6, 1993, and the municipal business was done by the Kyritz office . The community Rehfeld-Berlitt was dissolved on December 31, 2002, Rehfeld and Berlitt have been independent districts of the city of Kyritz since then.
