history

On July 22, 1992, the Minister of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg gave his consent to the formation of the Kyritz office according to the office model 2, the office uses the administration of an official city with over 5000 inhabitants. August 1, 1992 was set as the date on which the office was established. The office was based in the city of Kyritz and consisted of eight communities in what was then the Kyritz district:

  1. Bork / Lellichow
  2. Holzhausen
  3. Kötzlin
  4. Schönermark
  5. Rehfeld / Berlitt
  6. Teetz-Ganz (written in the Official Gazette Teetz)
  7. Drewen
  8. Kyritz

At the end of 1992 the office had 11,742 inhabitants. Following a referendum , the municipality of Schönermark merged with its neighboring municipality of Stüdenitz on January 1, 2002 to form the new municipality of Stüdenitz-Schönermark , the new municipality was assigned to the Neustadt (Dosse) office. As of December 31, 2002, Bork / Lellichow, Holzhausen, Rehfeld-Berlitt, Teetz-Ganz and Kötzlin were incorporated into the city of Kyritz. At the end of 2002 the Kyritz office had 10,579 inhabitants.

On October 26, 2003, the municipality of Drewen was incorporated into the city of Kyritz by law. The office of Kyritz was dissolved and the city of Kyritz was vacant. The municipality of Drewen lodged a municipal constitutional complaint against its legal integration into the city of Kyritz before the constitutional court of the state of Brandenburg, which was partly rejected, the rest rejected.
