The Wittstock-Land Office was an office formed in 1992 in which 18 municipalities in the north of what was then the Wittstock district (now the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district , Brandenburg ) were combined to form an administrative association. It was dissolved again in 2003 as part of the municipal reform in Brandenburg.

Geographical location

When it was founded, the Wittstock-Land office was located in the northwestern part of the Wittstock district, from 5./6. December 1993 in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in the northern part of Brandenburg . It bordered the Meyenburg and Pritzwalk-Land offices in the west, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the north, the Rheinsberg office and the city of Neuruppin in the east, the Temnitz office in the south, the Kyritz office in the southwest and for a short time Extension to the Gumtow office , in the west to the Heiligengrabe / Blumenthal office . The official area was in a semicircle around the city of Wittstock / Dosse, which was free of charge (at that time only the actual city area).

Formation of the Wittstock-Land office

The Minister of the Interior approved the creation of the Wittstock-Land Office on February 16, 1992 with effect from May 22, 1992. The formation of the office took place according to the official model. The seat of the official administration was in the city Wittstock (Amt Wittstock-Land, Meyenburger Chaussee 6 16909 Wittstock / Dosse), d. H. according to the so-called official model 3. It comprised the municipalities:

  1. Berlinchen
  2. Christdorf
  3. Dossow
  4. On it
  5. Fretzdorf
  6. Gadow
  7. Goldbeck
  8. Great Hasslow
  9. Heart leap
  10. Koenigsberg
  11. Never long
  12. Rossow
  13. Schweinrich
  14. Sewekow
  15. Wulfersdorf
  16. Zempow
  17. Zootzen
  18. City of Freyenstein

The community of Flecken Zechlin (then the district of Neuruppin ) was assigned to the Wittstock-Land office on August 20, 1992. Apparently the assignment was only limited in time, because the limitation was lifted with effect from August 11, 1994 and Flecken Zechlin belonged to the Wittstock-Land office "permanently". The Wittstock-Land office had 7,976 inhabitants at the end of 1992.

In the announcement of September 23, 2002, the Ministry of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg approved the incorporation of the communities Berlinchen, Christdorf, Dossow, Groß Haßlow, Niemerlang, Sewekow, Wulfersdorf, Zempow and Zootzen into the city of Wittstock / Dosse. However, the incorporation did not become legally effective until October 26, 2003.

The Wittstock-Land office was dissolved on October 26, 2003 as part of the municipal reform in Brandenburg . At the end of 2002 the office still had 6,641 inhabitants. The community Flecken Zechlin was incorporated into the now vacant city of Rheinsberg (previously Amt Rheinsberg ). The communities of Dranse, Fretzdorf, Gadow, Goldbeck, Herzsprung, Königsberg, Rossow and Schweinrich were incorporated into the town of Wittstock / Dosse. The municipality of Schweinrich lodged a municipal constitutional complaint against the incorporation into the city of Wittstock / Dosse, which was partly rejected, but the rest was rejected.

The municipalities of Herzsprung and Königsberg also raised municipal constitutional complaints before the constitutional court of the state of Brandenburg, which was successful in both cases. On December 31, 2004, the two communities were incorporated into the non-governmental community of Heiligengrabe and are now districts of Heiligengrabe.

Office Director

Dietmar Kröcher was the official director.
