Schweinrich is a district of the town of Wittstock / Dosse in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in the north-west of Brandenburg .

location

The place, in which 159 inhabitants live on 19.43 km² (as of December 31, 2013), is east of the center of Wittstock / Dosse. The Dranser See extends north of the village . To the east is the district of the city of Rheinsberg . The other districts of Wittstock / Dosse Zootzen , Groß Haßlow and Berlinchen follow in a clockwise direction .

history

In the second half of the 15th century, a stone church was built in the place .

After the end of the Second World War , the Wittstock military training area was built north of the town and was used by the GSSD . The local peasants were forced to lease their fields to the Red Army ; later they were expropriated . After the reunification , a citizens' initiative against the continued use of the land by the Bundeswehr was founded in the village . The first demonstration took place on August 15, 1992, and in the following years it started from Schweinrich on January 1 of the year. As a result of the protests, the planned use was finally abandoned in 2009.

Schweinrich was incorporated into Wittstock / Dosse in 2003.

The Evangelical village church Schweinrich , a stone building with a west tower, dates from the second half of the 15th century. Inside there is an altarpiece from the first quarter of the 17th century.
