Around 1490 Rossow belonged to the Ruppin rule . However, the manorial rule was exercised by the dukes of Mecklenburg . Until 1937 the place was like Schönberg a Mecklenburg exclave and belonged to the office and later district Waren / Müritz. The place passed to Prussia in 1937.
During the Reichspogromnacht on November 9, 1938 , a house was set on fire in Rossow by the SA . When the local pastor Aurel von Jüchen wanted to put out the fire, the Nazi authorities persecuted him, but also a church disciplinary procedure.
