Dranse is a district of the town of Wittstock / Dosse in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in the north-west of Brandenburg .

location

Dranse is northeast of the city center. The Great Baalsee extends north-east of the village and the Dranser See lake to the south-east . The Kuhlmühle and Walkmühle residential areas belong to Dranse .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1233 and is therefore the oldest village in the old district of Wittstock. It was under the influence of the Amelungsborn Monastery until the 14th century . At a previously unknown time, a stone church was built in the village . This was replaced by a successor in 1861. In 1898 the place was connected to the Wittenberge – Strasburg railway line . The Protestant community in Dranse has had a partnership with the Markus parish in Jestetten since the 1950s . In 1998 the railway was stopped. In 2003 Dranse and its living spaces were incorporated into Wittstock / Dosse.

Sights and culture

Listed station building
  • The village church Dranse was built in 1861 in place of a previous building in the arched style. Inside there is an Anna selbdritt from the end of the 15th century and a Salvator mundi from the 16th century.
  • The former station building and the residential building at Dorfstraße 40/42 are listed as historical monuments. In the Walkmühle residential area there is also a listed fulling mill with a main building with a turbine house and mill technology, as well as the hydraulic engineering facilities on the Kleiner Baalsee .
  • Numerous events take place in the community center.

Infrastructure and traffic

The A 19 runs west. It joins the northwest and southeast running A 24 at the Wittstock / Dosse motorway triangle to the southwest .
