Henry XIII. von Pappenheim (* 16th century; † February 12, 1590 ) was the archducal councilor of Austria, Bavarian councilor and carer in Wemding im Ries. From 1562 he held the seniorate .

Life

Heinrich was a son of Heinrich Burghard I († 1547) and his wife Anna von Hürnheim († 1567). He also had a brother Alexander and a sister Barbara. In contrast to his brother Alexander, Heinrich professed the evangelical faith . After a military career in which he served as a lieutenant, he became a councilor under Archduke Ferdinand I of Austria and later Bavarian councilor, as well as a caretaker in Wemding. After the death of Marshal Christoph von Pappenheim from the Alesheim line, he took over the seniority of the Pappenheim family in 1562. In the same year he received all associated privileges from Elector August in Saxony . In 1566, Emperor Maximilian II repeated the granting of the privileges. Likewise, the enfeoffments were again carried out by Emperor Rudolf II in 1577 and again by the Elector of Saxony in 1586. In Pappenheim , Heinrich excelled through building activity.

Of his total of three marriages, only one descendant was born from the first marriage. With Margareta von Pappenheim-Treuchtlingen he had their son Heinrich Rudolf. Margareta brought the village of Dettenheim and half of Rehlingen with her into the marriage. After her death in 1576 he married Cäcilia von Seiboldsdorff. His third marriage was to Ursula von Schaumberg, who survived him until 1612. His epitaph is in the St. Marien town church in Pappenheim and bears the following inscription:

“Mors ultima linea rerum.
Miserere mei Deus secundum magnum misericordiam tuam. Ps 50
Anno Domini 1590. On the 10th day of the month of February, the well-born Mr. HEINRICH, the eldest of salvation, died. Roman Empire Hereditary Marschalck, Lord of Pappenheim. Ruled as an elder for the 28th year. "
