The Große Baalsee is a body of water in Kuhlmühle , a residential area in the Dranse district of the city of Wittstock / Dosse in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in the state of Brandenburg .

location

The water is located northeast of the city on the district of Dranse and there northeast of the village center. To the north is the Sewekow district , which also belongs to Wittstock / Dosse. Together with the Kleiner Baalsee and the Dranser See , the Große Baalsee forms the north-western edge of the Stechlin-Ruppiner Land nature reserve .

The majority of the lake is in a wooded area, only in the northwest with Kuhlmühle and in the southwest with Dranse there are residential developments. In the south there is a connection with the Kleiner Baalsee. To the north of Dranse some ditches drain into the lake. There is also a comparatively short ditch in Kuhlmühle. With the Schildischen Graben in the north there is the only outflow into the northeastern Langhagensee in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
