Stüdenitz (on a map from 1680 also: Stynitz) is part of the municipality of Stüdenitz-Schönermark , which belongs to the Neustadt (Dosse) office . The Neustadt (Dosse) office is located in the southwest of the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg .

history

prehistory

At the beginning of the era, Germanic tribes lived in the Ostprignitz area . Migration increased in the 4th century. The Germanic tribes moved west. From the eastern areas, the Slavs moved to the abandoned area. Around 946 Otto I founded the dioceses of Havelberg and Brandenburg (948) as the starting point for the Christianization of the Slavs.

First mention

The first written mention of Stüdenitz is from 1274. Located in the border area of the margravial and episcopal Havelberg territory, it was issued as a fief by both the margrave and the Havelberg bishop. So Stüdenitz was owned by the cathedral chapter or office of Havelberg until 1872. The von Königsmark, the rule of Kletzke and the rule of Rühstädt had parts as fiefdoms.

development

Stüdenitz developed into one of the largest villages in Ostprignitz , located on the Berlin-Hamburg railway line , and had a train station from 1911 to 1993. In addition to agriculture, several craftsmen and merchants also settled here. After a major fire on August 30, 1866, large parts of the village, especially the large houses in the center, were rebuilt. Stüdenitz has had a central water supply since 1913. At the spring there is a memorial stone with the inscription "Water pipeline built in 1913 - In grateful memory of your supporters".

Jump

The water pipeline is still operated by the Stüdenitz water pipeline cooperative. In contrast, the sewage network is operated by the Dosse Water and Wastewater Association, which also operates the drinking water network in the surrounding communities. Every house owner is a member of the water cooperative, which is run by members through voluntary work. In 1946 the population increased from 690 (1939) to 1067 due to the influx of refugee families.

Summary

In terms of landscape, the village of Stüdenitz belongs to the Prignitz . In terms of local politics, Stüdenitz belonged to the Ostprignitz district from 1816 to 1952. This was divided into the Kyritz and Wittstock districts in 1952 and Stüdenitz was part of the Kyritz district in the Potsdam district until 1993 . The district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin was created in 1993 from the districts of Kyritz, Neuruppin and Wittstock, to which Stüdenitz has belonged since then. With the formation of offices in 1992, Stüdenitz came to the Neustadt / Dosse office, since January 1, 2002, Stüdenitz and Schönermark have formed a dual community in the Neustadt (Dosse) office.

Municipal reform

Until December 30, 2001, Stüdenitz was an independent municipality. Due to the municipal reform in Brandenburg in which all municipalities with less than 500 inhabitants were no longer allowed to exist, the municipality of Stüdenitz merged with the neighboring municipality of Schönermark to form the new municipality of Stüdenitz-Schönermark after a referendum. The state politicians wanted a merger with Breddin , but this was rejected by the Stüdenitzers in two referendums. The Schönermarker, which in contrast to Stüdenitz did not belong to the Neustadt (Dosse) office, but to the Kyritz office , were supposed to merge with the city of Kyritz , but this was also rejected. Since Stüdenitz and Schönermark were closely linked, there was a merger across official boundaries.

traffic

Stüdenitz is crossed by the state road 141 in an east-west direction and is about halfway between Neustadt (Dosse) and Havelberg. In the north, directly behind the houses, the Berlin-Hamburg railway also runs in an east-west direction. Today, Bahnhofstrasse no longer leads to a train station, but ends on the former station forecourt right next to the tracks. The station was demolished when the railway line was expanded and the crossing was closed, making Bahnhofstrasse a dead end. The nearest train station is now in the neighboring town of Breddin. Stüdenitz is divided into seven streets. Landesstrasse 141 is divided into three sections: Siedlung, Kyritzer Strasse and Havelberger Strasse. The other four streets are Lohmer Straße to Lohm, Sophiendorfer Straße to Sophiendorf, Bahnhofstraße and Straße Am Berg under the railway to the dairy barn.
