Innervisions is a studio album by the American soul singer Stevie Wonder , which was released on August 3, 1973 on the Detroit record label Tamla-Motown .

The album quickly became a huge commercial success, topping the "Black Album" chart of Billboard magazine . In the pop albums it reached number 4. In Great Britain it peaked at number 8 in September of that year. 1974 was Inner Visions in the "Album of the Year" and "Best Engineered Non-Classical Recording" with a Grammy Award. Today Innervisions is considered a classic of popular music and next to Songs in the Key of Life as Wonders best work. On Rolling Stone's 2003 list of the 500 best albums of all time , it was the musician's highest-ranked album at # 24.
A total of four singles were released from Innervisions . Even before the actual album was released, Higher Ground was released in July 1973 with the B-side Too High , which reached number 4 on the American Billboard Hot 100 and number 29 in the UK Top 40 . In the States, Higher Ground was the most successful single on the album. Living for the City was launched in November. It contained the B-side Visions and ranked 8th in the States and 15th in the UK. In April 1974, Tamla released two more singles, one in the US and one in the UK. The B-sides both consisted of songs that weren't on the actual album. Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing reached # 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. The B-side Blame It on the Sun was originally from the 1972 Talking Book album . He's Misstra Know-It-All / You Can't Judge a Book by Its Cover was ranked 10th in the UK Top 40.
