Alexander Payne

Alexander Payne (born February 10, 1961 in Omaha , Nebraska ) is an American film director and screenwriter . He has received two Oscar and two Golden Globe awards.

Life

Payne comes from a family of Greek-German ancestors who changed their surname from Papadopoulos to Payne . He attended Creighton Prep High School in Omaha. Before graduating from UCLA Los Angeles Film School in 1990 , he studied Spanish and history at Stanford University . In 1991 Payne made his debut film. For his film Sideways , which he wrote with Jim Taylor like all his previous films , he has received 34 awards so far.

In addition, Payne was hired several times to revise problematic scripts, such as Jurassic Park III .

In his films as a director, Payne has always worked with the film editor Kevin Tent .

On January 1, 2003, Payne married actress Sandra Oh . The marriage was divorced in 2007.

In 2012 he was appointed to the competition jury of the 65th Cannes International Film Festival .

At the end of August 2017, Payne opened the 74th Venice International Film Festival with the science fiction tragic comedy Downsizing .
