The Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal , in German "Grammy Award for the best rock performance by a duo or a group with singing", is a music prize that was awarded at the annual Grammy Awards . Groups or duets by musicians were awarded for particularly high-quality works, individual songs or rock music albums . Since 2012 this award has been assigned to the Best Rock Performance category.

Background and story

The Grammy Awards (actually Grammophone Awards), which have been presented since 1958, are presented annually in numerous categories by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) in the United States of America for artistic achievement, technical competence and excellent overall performance regardless of the album - Honor sales or chart position.

This prize has not been awarded since the Grammy Awards in 2012 and is instead assigned to the Best Rock Performance category.

The American band Green Day was nominated five times for a Grammy without winning it.

The band Eagles received the first award in this category in 1980 for the song Heartache Tonight . Irish band U2 has won this award seven times, making it top the list of the top Grammy winners in this category. The award went to the American band Aerosmith four times and The Police and Kings of Leon received it twice each . The most common prizes (18) were given to American artists, but U2 wins the prize seven times to Irish artists and five times to artists from Great Britain. The Traveling Wilburys were a supergroup of British and American artists, the Carlos Santana & Everlast project consisted of a Mexican and an American artist.

U2 also received the most Grammy nominations with 14 nominations (including 7 wins), and in 1990 they were the only band with two nominations in the same year. The most frequent nominations without a win were recorded by the American band Green Day with a total of 5 nominations, followed by the Rolling Stones with 4 nominations.
