The Spin Doctors are a rock band with a funk influence . The band was particularly successful in the 1990s with titles such as Two Princes , Jimmy Olsen's Blues and Little Miss Can't Be Wrong .

Band history

The band, founded in New York in 1988 , got a recording deal with Epic Records in 1990 . This was followed by the release of a live album from the local live club Wetlands Preserve .

In 1991, their first studio album, Pocket Full of Kryptonite, was a success. The next less successful albums were Turn It Upside Down (1994), You've Got to Believe in Something (1996) and Here Comes the Bride (1999).

In 1999 the band took a break because shortly after the release of the CD Here Comes The Bride , singer Chris Barron was no longer able to speak or sing due to a rare vocal cord disease. In September 2001, the band got together again on the occasion of the closure of the Wetlands Preserve in New York. The band has been touring regularly since 2002. In September 2005 the new album Nice Talking to Me was released in the USA . The band also gave concerts in 2006 and 2007, but the members concentrated on solo projects. Drummer Aaron Comess released the instrumental album "Catskills Cry" on October 31, 2006, while singer Chris Barron created the new band "Chris Barron And The Time Bandits" in order to present his second solo album "Pancho And The Kid" in 2006. In 2008 the band was on tour again, and in May 2008 Chris Barron's solo album was finally officially released. Also in 2009 the band played a few live concerts, Chris Barron concentrated more than ever on the "Time Bandits", with whom he performed in US military bases in Iraq in August 2009 ("Iraq'n'Roll Tour") and songs for wrote a new album. Aaron Comess mainly worked as a session musician in New York and played in the live bands of Marius Müller-Westernhagen and Joan Osborne .

In 2011 the band did another tour to promote the special edition for the 20th anniversary of the successful album "Pocket Full Of Kryptonite". The anniversary edition consisted of a remastered version of the album and a bonus CD with demo recordings from the band's early days and previously unreleased live tracks. The band's sixth studio album was released in 2013, which, apart from two new pieces, consists of the blues material from the early days of the band.

A Rockpalast concert recording from the Bonn music bar Harmonie from October 17, 2013 was released in April 2015 as a CD / DVD set in the Songs From The Road series by Ruf Records .
