Semisonic was an American alternative rock band that was formed in Minneapolis in 1995 . The band members were Dan Wilson, John Munson and Jacob Slichter.
history
After their band Trip Shakespeare ended, Dan Wilson and John Munson joined forces with drummer Jacob Slichter to form Semisonic in 1995. The first EP Pleasure was released in the same year on Boston independent label CherryDisc. The studio album Great Divide was released in 1996 by MCA . The band's breakthrough came two years later with their second album Feeling Strangely Fine . The single, Closing Time, was the band's greatest success. The single Secret Smile from the same album reached number 13 in the UK charts. In 1998 Semisonic released a cover version of the Prince song Erotic City (1984).
In 2001 the band released their third album All About Chemistry . In the same year, a song by the band appeared on the soundtrack of the film Summer Catch . All About Chemistry is so far the last album by the band, who came together to perform in the Minneapolis area in 2010 and 2012.
