Craig Ross is an American guitarist who is best known in Germany for his collaboration with Lenny Kravitz .

Life

Ross was born and raised in Los Angeles . He first came into contact with a guitar at the age of 8 and counts the Beatles and Chuck Berry among his first influences.

At the age of 16 he founded the band The Broken Homes at his high school, which then played for some other well-known groups, such as B. INXS or Stevie Ray Vaughan concerts opened. There were also three recordings for MCA Records , some of which also included Andy Johns as producer and sound engineer , who in the 70s also did this job for such legendary bands as the Rolling Stones ( Exile on Main St. ), Led Zeppelin ( IV ) and Free (Highway) met. At that time he performed under the name Kreg Ross.

The meeting with Lenny Kravitz in 1991 in an LA billiards club influenced his further career completely. After going on the Mama Said tour, he started writing some songs for the upcoming Are You Gonna Go My Way album, which went gold in Germany . For the title track, he was not only involved in the composition, but also recorded all of the guitar tracks. The success of this song, which reached number 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart, was another crucial career boost for Lenny Kravitz. The collaboration continued on the following albums, and Ross has participated in every Lenny Kravitz album since then. He also played mandolin and keyboards several times with the Lenny Kravitz Band .
