Baptism is Lenny Kravitz's seventh studio album .

To the formation

Kravitz originally wanted to record a 1970s-style funk album. The planned title was The Funk Album . However, in the end he decided to use the acoustic guitar to write songs for the album, although some pieces in this style had already been completed . The trigger was a visit to New York City . This gave him the feeling, for example when riding a motorcycle through the city, that he had had 15 years before the creation of Let Love Rule . The plan for the radio-influenced album was only implemented with Black and White America . At Baptism, rapper Jay-Z worked on the song Storm . The album was recorded at the Edison Studios Hotel in Miami , Florida .

success

The album reached number 14 on the Billboard 200 , number two in the German charts, number four in Austria and number three in Switzerland. Laut.de wrote: " Baptism , Kravitzen's baptism is a pleasant, if not surprising, affair."
