Mama Said is Lenny Kravitz's second studio album . It was released on Virgin Records in April 1991 .
To the formation
Guitarist Slash from Guns N 'Roses was involved in the creation of the album , who co-wrote the piece Always on the Run and also played on the album, he was also heard on Fields of Joy . Sean Lennon also wrote All I Ever Wanted . Kravitz quoted a lot from rock of the 1960s and 70s. For the first time he made it into the top 40 in the USA. Many funky riffs can be heard on the album.

The album reached number 39 on the Billboard 200 and platinum in the USA, number 20 on the German charts and number eight in the UK. Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic called it more polished and more studied than its predecessor and rated it 4 out of 5. Rezensator.de awarded 6 out of 10 stars and wrote: “Overall, Kravitz is again presenting decent songs. Despite all the beautiful moments, Kravitz cannot completely convince. "
