Let Love Rule is the debut album by Lenny Kravitz . It was released on Virgin Records in September 1989 .

To the formation

The then wife of Kravitz, Lisa Bonet wrote the text of Fear . With Rosemary , Bonet and Kravitz wrote the text together. Musically, the album was influenced by artists such as John Lennon , Curtis Mayfield , David Bowie and Prince . Influences from Jimi Hendrix were also noticed on Freedom Train . In general, 70s rock was a major influence.

The album reached number 61 on the Billboard 200 in the US, number 12 in Switzerland and number 56 in the UK . Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic wrote that the album didn't sound stiff or isolated, but “spatial and open” and rated it 4.5 out of 5. Rezensator.de awarded 7 out of 10 stars and wrote: “Retro is not always good, before especially if it just sounds cloned. The Kravitz sound sounds interesting and also shows a certain degree of independence. So this time travel is also fun. "
