reception

Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic gave Garbage 4.5 out of 5 stars. For him the album has all the external signs to assign it to alternative rock. Due to Butch Vig's production, it appears as pop . Vig's production is also highlighted by Eric Weisbard of Spin magazine . His great talent as a producer is the ability to make the cash register ring with acoustic outliers. The sound of the album is skillful and professional and the songs are all well-made pop songs. The songs Vow and Queer in particular were highlighted as memorable.
