Meredith Ann Brooks (born June 12, 1958 in Oregon City , Oregon ) is an American singer and songwriter .
life and career
After attending Corvallis High School in Corvallis , she worked in the music scene from 1974.
She moved to Los Angeles in the early 1980s . It was at this time that she recorded the songs that were later released on her album See It Through My Eyes . In the late 1980s and early 1990s she was a member of the band The Graces , which in 1989 released an album "A Perfect View" .
In 1995 Brooks was able to conclude a recording contract with the major label Capitol Records . Their first single, "Bitch" was a great success in 1997, reached number two on the US charts and earned her a nomination for a Grammy as Best Female rock singer one. Their album Blurring the Edges achieved platinum to hit number 22 in the Billboard 200 . In 1997 and 1998 they toured Europe and the USA.
Brooks recorded their second album in 1999 and released it under the title Deconstruction . It was very different from its predecessor, Blurring the Edges . The album was a failure. She wrote the song Sin City for the film Snake Eyes by her friend Brian De Palma .
In 2002 she released her third album under the title Bad Bad One on the independent label Gold Circle Records . Shortly after the album was released, the insolvent label was unable to effectively advertise the album. A tour was also not possible for financial reasons.
Brooks produced the album in 2002 BareNaked of Jennifer Love Hewitt and entered in the program Divas Las Vegas along with Celine Dion and Anastacia as a guitarist on. In 2004 Brooks signed a new contract with SLG Records and released their album Shine . The theme song was written by TV psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw used on his show. In 2007 she published a children's songs album titled If I could be ... .
