Toby McKeehan
Toby McKeehan (born October 22, 1964 in Fairfax , Virginia as Kevin Michael McKeehan ) is one of the three founders of the Christian band DC Talk and is active as a solo artist under the name TobyMac .
biography
Toby McKeehan was born as one of four children. He attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, where he met Michael Tait and Kevin Max , with whom he founded the band dc Talk in 1987 . In the early years, dc Talk's music was mainly influenced by Toby McKeehan's raps. Later on, hip-hop was more and more replaced by rock and pop. In 1994 he married his college sweetheart, Amanda Jane, a native of Jamaica . In 1998 they had a son, Truett Foster. In 2002 they adopted twins, Moses and Marlee. Their fourth child, Leo, was born on November 2, 2004, and their fifth child, Judah, was born on March 24, 2006.
In 1994 Toby McKeehan co-founded the record company Gotee Records , which today markets Christian interpreters such as Out Of Eden , Jennifer Knapp , Relient K and John Reuben . In 1996 he released the album Erace with Todd Collins and Joey Elwood under the name Gotee Brothers . In 1999 he founded the label 40 Records with Bill Gaither . The three members of dc Talk have been traveling solo since 2001. Since then, Toby McKeehan has released five studio albums under the stage name TobyMac , in which he again emphasizes his hip-hop roots and mixes them with nu metal and crossover to form rap core .
His song Showstopper served as the official theme song for the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) "WWE Fatal 4 Way" Pay-Per-View , as did Ignition for "WWE Elimination Chamber 2011".
