Group 1 Crew is a Christian hip hop group from Orlando , Florida , signed to Word Records and Fervent Records .
Band history
Group 1 Crew was founded in 2003 by Blanca Callahan, Manwell Reyes and Pablo Villatoro. The three musicians and rappers met in a Bible study . They began making music together and were eventually signed to Fervent records . Their first release was on the Christian sampler WOW Hits 2007 ( EMI Christian Music Group ), which was released on October 3, 2006. You are represented there with the song Can't Go On .
About a month later, the extended Play I Have a Dream was released . In February 2007 the first studio album followed, named after the band name Group 1 Crew . In 2008, Ordinary Dreamers followed , the group's second album. In 2009, Outta Space Love was their last album as a trio. Pablo Villatoro got out and so Manwell Reyes and Blanca Callahan continued as a duo. Blanca married Ben Callahan, who has supported the band on the percussion since 2006 . In 2012 the last album Fearless followed . Blanca Reyes Callahan gave birth to a child on July 25, 2013.
The band has been on Billboard magazine 's Christian music charts since their first album . With Outta Space Love , the band also made it to number 96 on the Billboard 200 .
Music genre
Group 1 crew mix different influences from popular music , especially hip-hop, R&B and gospel . Blanca Reyes Callahan takes on the clear R&B vocals, while Manwell Reyes is mainly responsible for the spoken vocals.
