Kaleo is a four-piece Icelandic rock band formed in Mosfellsbær in 2012 . The band is composed of the singer and guitarist Jökull Júlíusson, the drummer Davíð Antonsson, the bassist Daníel Ægir Kristjánsson and the guitarist Rubin Pollock.

history

The band first appeared in public at the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival in November 2012. Her national breakthrough came shortly afterwards with the reinterpretation of the popular Icelandic ballad Vor í Vaglaskógi , which became one of the most played songs on the Icelandic radio station Rás 2. The song can also be heard in the first episode of the Icelandic mystery series Trapped - Gefangen in Iceland .

With her single All the Pretty Girls in 2014, Kaleo was able to attract attention beyond national borders for the first time. The song had already been heard over 28 million times on the music streaming platform Spotify by August 2016.

Kaleo signed with Atlantic Records in early 2015 and then relocated to Austin , Texas. As the year went on, the band became more widely known in the United States and media interest increased. This is made clear, among other things, by the ninth place that All The Pretty Girls achieved in the US Adult Alternative Charts.

She achieved another notable success with the single Way Down We Go , which served as background music in numerous television series, including the lawyer series Suits , and also appeared in the playlist of the popular soccer simulation FIFA 16 . The song made it into the top 10 of the local hot rock single charts in both the United States and Canada. In the German-speaking countries the single reached the top 20 of the charts and rose to number 6 in Germany. Way Down We Go is also used as the soundtrack in a trailer for the movie Logan .

The single No Good , also released in 2015, became the trailer song of the HBO series Vinyl . The song can also be heard in the racing game The Crew 2 .

Tour NO FILTER of The Rolling Stones came in 2017 Kaleo as the opening act at the concerts Hamburg City Park , Olympic Stadium Munich and Red Bull Ring in Spielberg on.
