Il Giardino Armonico ("The Harmonious Garden") is a chamber orchestra and ensemble of historical performance practice .

The ensemble was founded in 1985 by graduates from various European music schools in Milan . The repertoire mainly comprises music of the 17th and 18th centuries ( baroque music ) and is played on historical instruments. Depending on requirements, the orchestra consists of between 3 and 30 musicians. Giovanni Antonini , who is also a recorder soloist, has been in charge since 1985. Since 1987 the baroque violinist Enrico Onofri has been the ensemble's first concert master and violin soloist.

Il Giardino Armonico played with well-known artists such as Cecilia Bartoli , Lorenzo Ghielmi , Katia and Marielle Labèque , Magdalena Kožená and Viktoria Mullova . The ensemble has already received several important prizes, particularly for recordings of works by Antonio Vivaldi . It was involved in the album "Cecilia Bartoli - The Vivaldi-Album", which helped the mezzo-soprano to a Grammy Award in 2000 . In 2015 the ensemble was awarded the ECHO Klassik in the symphonic recording category and two years later for the concert recording of the year .
