For King & Country
For King & Country , formerly known as Joel & Luke or Austoville , is an American band founded in 2007 by Australians Joel and Luke Smallbone in Nashville , Tennessee . The music can be assigned to the genre of alternative rock and contemporary Christian music .
history
Brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone were born in Sydney , Australia , but came to the United States with their family in the early 1990s. Both were active as musicians and backing singers for their older sister Rebecca St. James at an early age , before they founded their own band in 2007. When they were renamed "For King & Country" in 2012, the brothers quickly became known in the USA, their debut album Crave placed at number 2 on the Billboard Christian Music Charts on the day of its release and stayed in the charts for 26 weeks. The band went on tour with Casting Crowns and Jason Castro , among others , recorded together with Lecrae and appeared on various television shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live! Songs have also been used in television shows such as the Vampire Diaries and Drop Dead Diva . The band also performs together with Moriah Peters , Joel's wife. The 3rd album Burn the Ships was released on October 5, 2018.

In December 2012, the album Crave was named Breakthrough Christian & Gospel Album of 2012 on iTunes and was named "Breakthrough Artist of the Year" at the 2013 K-LOVE Fan Awards . excellent. At the Grammy Awards , the band was twice successful in 2015 and 2020.
