Rebecca St. James
Rebecca St. James (* 26. July 1977 in Sydney , Australia , as Rebecca Jean Smallbone ) is in the Christian popular music scene singer .
Life
When she was 13, her family immigrated to the United States because of her father's work as a concert manager . However, the father's employment did not materialize, and so he started a music career for his eldest daughter to save the family from poverty.
In 1991 her debut album "Refresh My Heart" was released. From 1991 to 2004 she released a total of nine albums. In 1996 she achieved her breakthrough with “God”. Her most successful albums to date are “Pray” (1998) - for this album she received a Grammy Award for “Best Rock Gospel Album” in 2000 - and “Transform” (2000). She has already toured through North America, Western and Southeastern Europe and her home country Australia.
In addition to concert appearances, she is also invited to speak at women's and youth conferences in order to present her value-conservative beliefs. In her song "Wait For Me" (2000) she sings about rejecting sex before marriage . On her "Wait-For-Me" tour she also addressed the fact that it is not God's will to have sex before marriage. Regarding her studio album, which was released in October 2005, she said that she wanted to continue to build on "biblical truth" and that no compromises in terms of the content of the message were to be expected.
Since April 23, 2011 she is married to Jacob "Cubbie" Fink, the bassist of the band Foster the People . The couple married at the Junípero Serra Museum in San Diego .
