Jamie xx (* 28 October 1988 in London as Jamie Smith ) is an English musician and record producer and founding member of the indie band The xx .
Jamie Smith's music career began in 2005 when he and friends formed The xx at London's Elliott School . While operating the drum machine at The xx , he produced remixes for artists such as Florence + the Machine , Adele and Gil Scott-Heron . For the latter, he remixed his album I'm New Here , the result of which was the collaborative effort We're New Here . In 2015 the Jamie xx debut album In Color was released .
