Musiq Soulchild
Musiq Soulchild (* 16th September 1977 in Philadelphia ; actually Talib Johnson ) between 2001 and 2007, only Musiq is an American Soul - and R & B - singer and representatives of the so-called neo soul . With around four million albums sold to date in the US, he was one of the best-known artists on the Def Jam record label .
biography
Soulchild was born one of ten children into a Muslim family and grew up in Philadelphia. As a teenager , he made the plan to become a professional musician.
Under the title Aijuswanaseing , he released his debut album in November 2000 , which was well received by critics and audiences alike. He was awarded a platinum record for more than 1.8 million albums sold . The extractions Just Friends (Sunny) , Love and Girl Next Door placed in the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot R & B / Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks.
With the follow-up album Juslisen he was able to repeat this success, reached number 1 in the US album charts in May 2002 and also went platinum. With Halfcrazy and Dontchange , two hit singles were also included on this long player . Musiq Soulchild is also on Prince's album One Nite Alone… Live! represented.
The album Soulstar , released in 2003, was less successful than its predecessor, but also made it into the US charts. The sales figures were still enough for a gold record . The songs Forthenight and Whoknows made their way into the pop and R&B / hip-hop charts.
After Soulstar , Soulchild took a three-year creative break. During this time he separated from his record company Def Jam and switched to Atlantic Records . In March 2007, his fourth album was released under the title Luvanmusiq , with which he came back to number 1 on the Billboard charts and for which he received his second gold record. The releases Buddy and Teachme are further hits that entered the top 10 of the R & B / Hip-Hop charts.
The 2008 album OnMyRadio and the singles IfULeave , Radio and Sobeautiful contained on it are further commercial successes for Musiq Soulchild. In the same year, the EP A Philly Soul Christmas was released with seven Christmas carols, including Jingle Bells , O Holy Night , O Christmas Tree and The First Noel .
The success continued with the 2011 album Musiqinthemagiq . The releases Yes and Anything are Soulchild's last single placements in the R & B / Hip-Hop charts. The 2013 released album 9ine fell short of expectations and only made it to the bottom of the R&B charts.
