Fat Joe
Fat Joe (born August 19, 1970 in New York ; actually Joseph Antonio Cartagena ) is an American rapper . The rapper of Puerto Rican descent, who grew up in the Bronx , had a few hits as a solo artist and later worked with Jennifer Lopez , R. Kelly , Ashanti , Ricky Martin and Ginuwine , among others . Joe is a co-founder of the rap group The Terror Squad . Because of his body he gave himself the stage name "Fat Joe".
Career
Fat Joe became famous in the New York City underground rap scene in the early 1990s. After his partner at the time, Big Punisher , had achieved initial success in the mainstream, Fat Joe began to rearrange his productions and make them more suitable for the masses. He released a total of eight solo albums, on which the two hit singles We Thuggin ' and What's Luv appeared. He produced an album together with his crew The Terror Squad. His sixth album, All or Nothing was released in the spring of 2005. With the track My FoFo he responded to the 50 cents attack in his song Piggybank . Since autumn 2006 he has hosted the show Pimp My Ride International together with Lil Jon . Fat Joe also runs a fashion label called FJ 560 . In the meantime, Fat Joe managed to reduce his body weight from 350 lbs (157.5 kg) to 262 lbs (118 kg). This was followed by the video release of his song Drop a Body in June 2011, during which his weight reduction became visible to the public. He then appeared for the first time with the stage name "Slim Joe".
