Greg Kurstin
Greg Kurstin (born May 14, 1969 in Los Angeles ) is an American songwriter , producer and multi-instrumentalist . Since December 2006 he and Inara George have been part of the trip-hop / electro-pop music project The Bird and the Bee .
Life
As a child, the student played the piano; this made it easier for him to learn other instruments (organ, keyboards and guitar). During his high school years he played in several electric bands.
He studied music in New York , became a student of Jaki Byard and pianist of jazz musician Charles Mingus . In addition, Greg also spent a lot of time playing bossa nova .
Returning to Los Angeles, he worked with Beck and the Red Hot Chili Peppers , was a member of the Geggy Tah music group , which David Byrne signed under the Talking Heads label "Luako Bop" and released three albums between 1994 and 2001 .
Greg Kurstin recorded his solo album Action Figure Party (2001) with artists such as Flea ( Red Hot Chili Peppers ), Sean Lennon , Jose Pasillas ( Incubus ) and Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto), supplemented on individual songs by Gabrial McNair ( No. Doubt ), David Ralicke ( Beck ), Yogi Lonich ( Buckcherry ), Daniel Shulman ( Garbage ), Fima Ephron ( Gil Scott-Heron ), Mike Elizondo ( Dr. Dre / Eminem ). Furthermore produced Kurstin different songs by Lily Allen , Peaches , Pink , Karen O , The Flaming Lips , The Shins , All Saints , Marina and the Diamonds , Sia , Natasha Bedingfield , Sophie Ellis-Bextor , Jamelia , Take That and Har Mar Superstar .
Together with Adele, he wrote three pieces for album 25 , including Hello , on which he also played bass, guitar, piano, keyboards and drums.
For Celine Dion he produced the tracks "Baby" and "Heart of glass" for her album Courage (2019).
