Miho Hatori ( Japanese 羽 鳥 美 保 , Hatori Miho ; born April 4, 1971 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese singer.

Live and act

The only child grew up in the countryside near Tokyo in the 1970s. She liked Japanese pop music and anime soundtracks like Nausicaä from the Valley of the Winds , which touched her feelings. As a teenager, she heard all kinds of music, especially the Osaka -UnDeRgRoUnD music. She was a member of the Tokyo rap group Kimidori .

In 1993 Miho went to New York to study art there. She founded the punk band Laito Lychee , where she took over the vocal part. There she met Yuka Honda ( 本田 ゆ か ), with whom she founded the indie band Cibo Matto in 1994 . Through their very successful live shows, the two soon achieved a level of awareness that also extended beyond the scene. At Warner Bros. Records they produced two albums, of which 1996 Viva La Woman! Was named one of the best albums of the 90s and one of the best hip-hop albums by Spin Magazine . After the participation of some guest musicians, the band gradually broke up. Miho worked with numerous celebrities such as the Beastie Boys and the Gorillaz , where she contributed vocally. She hides behind the guitarist Noodle with the Gorillaz . In 2005 she recorded her solo album.
