Gary Novak

Gary Laurence Novak (* 6. August 1969 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American jazz - drummer , who is a popular recording artist and as a member of Chick Corea's Elektric Band and Alanis Morissette became known by the public.

Live and act

Novak, whose parents are pianists, had piano lessons from the age of eight. At the age of ten he performed with his father and was allowed to join Louie Bellson when he was thirteen . During school he played with the likes of Buddy DeFranco , Joe Williams , Milt Hinton , Kenny Burrell and Barney Kessel . When he was nineteen he moved to Los Angeles and became a member of Maynard Ferguson's band . Before long he was one of the busiest studio musicians, recording with Michael McDonald , Anita Baker , David Sanborn , Jimmy Earl, Michael Wolff , Lee Ritenour , Pat Kelley, Brandon Fields and Bluezeum . In 1991 he toured with Lee Ritenour and the GRP All Stars , in 1992 with George Benson . Then he belonged to Corea's Elektric Band until 1997 , where he took the place of Dave Weckl , and also played with Bob Berg and Allan Holdsworth . He then accompanied Alanis Morissette and worked with David Benoit , Eddie Daniels , Randy Bernsen and many others.
