Randy Bernsen

Randy Bernsen (born July 15, 1954 in Needham (Massachusetts) ) is an American guitarist and composer of jazz and fusion music .

Career

Bernsen grew up in Florida; He attended the High School in Plantation and was active in the clubs of South Florida at the age of 17. He graduated from the University of Miami . In the mid-1970s he was a member of the Peter Graves Orchestra , which played in Bachelors III with Jaco Pastorius . In 1977 he was part of Blood, Sweat & Tears . Bernsen's debut album Music for People, Planets & Washing Machines (1986) included numerous fusion jazz greats such as Urszula Dudziak , Bob James , Herbie Hancock , Jaco Pastorius and Peter Erskine . After good reviews, Bernsen succeeded in engaging Wayne Shorter and Michael Brecker , Marcus Miller , Steve Gadd and Toots Thielemans for the follow-up album Mo 'Wasabi .

Bernsen toured with his own groups from Fort Lauderdale since the 1990s ; Occasionally he has been touring Southeast Asia and Mexico for concert tours. In 1992 he was involved in Joe Zawinul's album Lost Tribes ; with the Peter Graves Orchestra he recorded the Pastorius tribute Word of Mouth Revisited in 2003 , which was followed by The World is Out in 2006 . Tom Lord recorded 42 recordings by Bernsen between 1979 and 2006. He can also be heard on albums by Silvano Monasterios and Jürgen Attig .
