David Gelb (born October 16, 1983 in New York City ) is an American director .

Life

David Gelb was born in New York City in 1983. His father Peter Gelb has been General Manager of the New York Metropolitan Opera since 2006 . His grandfather Arthur Gelb was the Managing Editor of the New York Times from 1986 to 1989 .

Yellow made his first appearances as an actor since the mid-1990s before turning to making films. From the beginning of the 2000s he made his first short films and music videos. Occasionally he also worked as a cameraman, screenwriter and film editor.

In 2011 he made his first feature-length documentary with Jiro Dreams of Sushi . In 2015 he directed the documentary series Chef's Table as a showrunner for Netflix , in which various chefs were portrayed. In the same year he shot the horror film The Lazarus Effect for Blumhouse Productions . In 2015, the second season of Chef's Table followed for Netflix.
