Christian Tetzlaff

Christian Tetzlaff (born April 29, 1966 in Hamburg ) is a German violinist .

He studied at the University of Music Lübeck with Uwe-Martin Haiberg and in the United States at the College-Conservatory of Music Cincinnati . His repertoire as a soloist includes works from Johann Sebastian Bach to György Ligeti . Christian Tetzlaff has worked with almost all known orchestras in Europe, such as the Berlin Philharmonic , the Concertgebouw Orchestra , the Vienna Philharmonic and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich . In 2014/15 he appeared as Artist in Residence with the Berliner Philharmoniker as a soloist and conductor of chamber music works and played Brahms' violin concerto as a soloist with the conductor Simon Rattle . Since 1992 he has been a member of the Free Academy of the Arts Hamburg .

Tetzlaff plays a violin made by Stefan-Peter Greiner . He works with his sister, the cellist Tanja Tetzlaff , from time to time.

He emerged u. a. through his rendering of the violin works by Jean Sibelius .

Prizes and awards

In 2000 Tetzlaff was awarded the Brahms Prize of the Brahms Society Schleswig-Holstein based in Heide .

Musical America named him Instrumentalist of the Year 2005 .
