James Kimberley Corden OBE (born August 22, 1978 in Hillingdon , London ) is a British film and stage actor, screenwriter , singer, presenter and comedian .

biography

Corden made his first appearances as an extra in the musical Martin Guerre at the Prince Edward Theater in London's West End in 1996 and in a television series. The following year he starred in a film for the first time.

In 1999 he played a leading role in the six-part series Boyz Unlimited, about a boy band. He had a supporting role in the first and third seasons of the series Teachers. Numerous other engagements followed, including as a television presenter and for Comic Relief . He also recorded the song Shout with Dizzee Rascal , which was to serve as the battle cry of the English national team at the 2010 World Cup . His first and so far last single made it to number 1 in the UK singles chart in June 2010. A remix released for the European Championships in 2012 was less successful. He also made a small appearance in the music video of Mama Do the Hump by Rizzle Kicks .

Corden has received numerous awards for his work. The series Gavin & Stacey , in which he and Ruth Jones contributed the script as well as the idea and, like Jones, took on a leading role, won the British Comedy Awards in 2007 and 2008 . Corden received the 2007 award for Best Male Comedy Whiz . In 2008 he received the British Academy Television Award for Best comedy performance for the role . For his leading role in the play One Man, Two Guvnors , he was awarded the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Play and the Tony Award for Best Actor in 2012.

In 2015 Corden was awarded the Order of the British Empire . Since 2015 Corden has hosted the CBS show The Late Late Show as the successor to Craig Ferguson .

Moderation at award ceremonies

The BRIT Awards moderated Corden five times in a row until he retired, 2014.

In 2017 Corden hosted the Tony Awards . The show won an Emmy . In the same year he also hosted the Grammys Awards , as well as in 2018 .

Private life

Corden has been married since 2012 and has a son (* 2011) and two daughters (* 2014 and 2017). The family lives in Los Angeles . Corden's youngest daughter was unexpectedly born on December 12, 2017, but healthy. Harry Styles spontaneously jumped in as the host of the Late Late Show two hours before filming began, and Bryan Cranston agreed to host the show the following day. On December 14th, Corden returned as a presenter.
