One Chance - Once in a Lifetime (Original title: One Chance ) is an American - British biography by David Frankel from 2013 with James Corden in the lead role . The film traces the life of the British tenor Paul Potts .

Paul Potts, the son of a British steelworker, had a predilection for Italian opera even as a boy. Neither his father nor his classmates show understanding. Only his mother and later his girlfriend Julie support his dream of becoming an opera singer. Paul attends a music school in Italy and even meets his idol Luciano Pavarotti - but initially there is no success. Then Paul 2007 competes with the British talent show Britain's Got Talent and is a celebrated star.

The film One Chance - Once in a Lifetime received mostly positive reviews. On the Web site Rotten Tomatoes , the film reached 70 percent of the reviewers a positive rating.
The critics of TV Spielfilm see in the film a "hearty biopic", which is indeed a few "beauty hairstyles" in Pott's biography and is sometimes "overdone", but proves to be a "sensitive, heartfelt milieu study with a lovable leading actor" - " a cheerful and easy outsider's tale ”.
